Description
Early Georgian oak cased eight-day longcase clock by Alex Massey, Sunderland know to be making clocks around 1810.
The brass face is nicely decorated with floral motifs, and angels holding ‘sic Transit Gloria Mundi’ - Thus passes the worldly glory." The phrase has been used to mean "fame is fleeting”
The body of the clock is a rich dark oak and heavily carved. The movement has recently been serviced and is in good working order.
