Description

Georgian mahogany 8-day longcase clock, circa 1765–1780

The clock has a 35 cm round brass dial, signed Woolrich of Wolverhampton, with a silvered chapter ring and pierced hands.
The 8-day movement strikes the hours on a bell.

The mahogany case is topped with ball and spire finials and blind swan-neck cresting. The hood has baluster-turned columns. Below is a shaped short trunk door with matching columns to either side, standing on a plinth with canted corners. The case is crossbanded and inlaid, with mahogany panels throughout.
